Was John Paul II the Best Pope? That's Debateable.

While John Paul II was ceartainly the most charismatic and most well travelled Pope, and he did try to concile with the Jews and the Muslims, he was staunchly dogmatic. He stood firm on the Catholic doctrines of a purely male priesthood and the ban on contraception. He was also slow to respond to the pedophilia of certain American priests, but that may have been because of his age. His views made me ashamed to be a Catholic. When that man's corpse is laid into the ground today, I shall think no better of him. Good-bye, and good riddance. Here's to a more progressive Pope. *clink*
